On Wednesday, the Middle School was a sea of orange in honor of Unity Day, a day to celebrate community and to unite against bullying. The festivities included lunchtime music, button-making and Gratitude Shout-Outs to faculty, staff, friends and family!
This day also included a special visit from cyber education expert Lori Getz, who engaged students in conversation about digital citizenship. Students considered how to use technology mindfully, balance screen time and “tech free” activities, and promote positive relationships, including apps that use biofeedback to encourage healthier habits! Some of Ms. Getz’ suggestions for time-management and limiting technology distractions included the Self-Control App, StayFocusd, and Forest.
Healthy technology habits can be modeled and reinforced at home! We challenge parents and students to try these apps together, as well as to try these fun suggestions for family Device-Free Dinners from Common Sense Media!
